GTA 6 Delay Was “A Great Day” For Ghost Of Yotei Developers
Ghost of Yotei‘s developers embraced the fact that Rockstar chose to delay GTA 6 to 2026, thereby giving Sucker Punch’s own game space in the fall season.
Ghost of Yotei co-creative director Nate Fox was asked by MinnMaxx if the entire studio uncorked some champagne and celebrated the news in May 2025 when Rockstar announced GTA 6’s delay.
“We’re all still hungover. Multi-month hangover. That was a great day,” Fox said.
Sony announced Ghost of Yotei’s October 2 release date in Apri. 2025. A month later in May 2025, Rockstar announced that GTA 6 was moving to May 2026.
A number of developers with games lined up for 2025 were reportedly ready to shift dates due to GTA 6. The game is expected to be a gargantuan success, and one industry veteran even said it’s the industry’s first “AAAAA” game and has the power to “blot out the sun.”
A second playable character and story DLC?
At about 1:20 in the video, Fox is asked if Ghost of Yotei has just one playable character, Atsu. Fox quickly grabs his drink and sips it instead of answering, while staring coyly into the camera. People can read into that however they want, but it sure appears to be some kind of tease.
Asked if he could rule out single-player DLC for Ghost of Yotei, Fox did not answer but stayed silent and looked at the camera with a sly look on his face. This doesn’t necessarily mean anything, though.
We already know Ghost of Yotei is getting its own multiplayer Legends mode, which will take the game’s mechanics and combat into a supernatural setting for co-op multiplayer missions. Legends will be free DLC for anyone who purchases the base game, and it launches in 2026.
“You will see her butt”
One of parts of Ghost of Tsushima that people latched onto was when Jin Sakai went into an onsen and everyone got to see his butt. People enjoyed this. For Ghost of Yotei, Fox said, “Atsu will also be getting an onsen, and you will see her butt.”
Infamous remasters “would be great”
Fox also briefly touches on Sucker Punch’s Infamous series, saying it “would be great” if another studio came in to make remasters of the Infamous games. The series debuted in 2009, with Infamous 2 landing in 2011. Infamous: Second Son followed in 2014–Fox directed all three.
